The Customer:

The homeowner, who is based in the attractive Selby district of North Yorkshire, contacted our distributor Local Garage Door Services to assist them with the installation of a door on their super-sized garage, which was attached to their stunning newbuild home.

The Requirements:

Upon visiting the customer, Local Garage Door Services discovered that the garage didn’t have standard dimensions, which instantly ruled out ‘off the shelf’ garage door designs. Measuring 4.5metres wide, the opening was over twice as wide as the average UK garage door, which typically measure in at approximately 7ft (2133mm). Other factors Local Garage Door Services needed to consider was the customer’s need for a door with electric operation which also provided exceptional security, ensuring the safety of the cars which were housed within the garage.

It was evident that aesthetics was also high up on the customer’s list of importance, and that any garage door should accentuate the design and appearance of the stunning stone property. The customer also stressed the need for excellent insulating benefits as the garage is attached to the main building and houses a separate door into the home.

The Solution:

The homeowner was concerned that garage door options would be limited due to the unconventional size of their opening, so Local Garage Door Services were delighted to inform them that following substantial product development, our SeceuroGlide Sectional Elite could now be manufactured to bespoke widths of up to 6m, which comfortably accommodated their 4.5m wide garage.

With an insulating value of 0.51 W/m2k, fully automatic operation and excellent security features, the customer was impressed with the specification provided with the Sectional Elite and opted for the ultra-modern, un-ribbed 40mm Polyisocyanurate (PIR) energy-efficient panels in Chartwell Green, which as well as perfectly complementing the stone structure of their property, was also an exact match to their newly installed front door.

The Installation:

Manufactured and supplied by us in November of last year, Local Garage Door Services successfully completed the installation in just one day, using a team of two installers.

The Outcome:

The homeowner praised the quality of their newly installed door and complimented Local Garage Door Services on their excellent workmanship. They were delighted with the smooth, electric operation and commented on how much they were looking forward to using it.
